Young Women’s Leadership School, Queens, NY

As we celebrate Women’s History Month, Caroline triumphed at the Girls Debate Invitational Tournament leaving undefeated.

With only a few weeks of coaching, our courageous debaters were ready to demonstrate their prowess at the Girls Debate Invitational Tournament hosted by the Young Women’s Leadership School in Queens, NY. The tournament was sponsored by the Bella Abzug Leadership Institute (BALI). In line with Early Scholars goals of personal growth, BALI focuses on personal development, leadership and debate building for girls and young women in the tri-state area.

Going into this competitive tournament, students were reminded to focus on the journey, not the win. They spent their time learning to become better public speakers while simultaneously tackling geopolitical issues.  Our debaters left with winning records as they debated April’s National Speech Debate Association topic, resolved: the United Nations should grant India permanent membership on the Security Council. Next stop, State Championship!
