We left victorious!!! We are very, very proud of Zachary, Adrian, Janie and Kaileigh who had an amazing winning record for the last two days and reached the Octofinal elimination round at the city championships. Our youngest debaters are an inspiration to us all. The fantastic Kaileigh Dorcely and Janie May exude ultimate---Girl POWER! Followed by our dynamic duo, Adrian Chen and Zachary Jacques, who may only be elementary students, but they’ve proven their debate prowess against their middle school competitors reaching the octo-final elimination round at the city championship on March 16th and 17th.
Congratulations, Caroline Xiong! In her first year competing at the New York City Urban Debate League middle school public forum tournament, she competed in the hardest division and earned the 4th speaker award at the city championship! Caroline’s future is bright.
And we’re looking forward to State Championships. We’re the only team at the Urban Debate League tournament crazy enough to take 4th and 5th graders to compete against 6, 7, and 8th graders. Many thought it was suicide but we have proven them wrong, in only our first year competing on the Middle School division.
